This policy explains what whendoesgta6comeout.com (“we”, “us”), run by TENSO LLC, collects when you use the site and what happens to it. Questions: support@whendoesgta6comeout.com.
The short version
- No accounts, and we do not set cookies.
- We count visits and how pages are used, without storing your IP address.
- If you play the driving game, we store your best distance, a random player ID and the nickname you choose (if any) for the public leaderboard.
- We only have your email address if you subscribe to launch reminders, and you can unsubscribe from any email.
- No ads yet. If we add them, this page changes first.
Analytics
A small script on our pages reports page views, how long a page stays open, how far you scroll, which links and buttons you click, and, if you answer it, the one-question survey that can appear as you leave. For the driving game it only records that a game started or ended, without the score, nickname or player ID. These events go to our own server, which forwards them to PostHog. Before forwarding we drop your IP address; we keep only the country your request came from (worked out by our host from the IP) the page you came from, and a random ID for your browser tab that is gone when you close it. We do not build profiles of individual visitors, and the script sets no cookies. The countdown widget that other sites embed (/embed/) runs no analytics at all.
The driving game and leaderboard
If you play the game on the home page or /drive/, your best distance and badges are saved in your browser’s local storage. When a run ends, the game sends our server:
- The run: distance, top speed, number of overtakes and how long the run lasted.
- A random player ID made in your browser the first time you play. It is not derived from your device, IP address or anything about you.
- A nickname, only if you typed one. Otherwise you appear as “Anonymous driver”.
What we use it for: ranking you on the leaderboard and stopping fake scores. Speed, overtakes and run length are only used to check the score is possible and are not stored; we keep the distance. We also count submissions per player ID for one minute to limit spam. We do not use any of this for advertising or link it to analytics or to your email address.
How long we keep it: daily boards are deleted after 3 days. The all-time board keeps each player ID’s best distance while it is in the top 10,000. A nickname is kept for 180 days after your last run, then deleted.
Who can see it: nicknames and distances are public on the leaderboard and on share cards you create, so do not use your real name or anything that identifies you. A nickname can be personal data, so you can ask us at support@whendoesgta6comeout.com to delete your nickname and scores; tell us the nickname, and we will remove it. Clearing this site’s data in your browser deletes the player ID on your side, and nothing on our side can link a new ID to the old one.
What we store in your browser
These are local and session storage entries, not cookies. They are only sent to us as described above, and clearing site data deletes them.
| Name | What it is for |
|---|---|
ncd-best | your best distance in the driving game |
ncd-pid | a random ID so the leaderboard can keep your best score; it is not linked to your name or email |
ncd-name | the nickname you typed for the leaderboard |
ncd-ach | game badges you have unlocked |
gta6-companion_sid | session storage: a random ID for this browser tab so page views in one visit are counted together; deleted when you close the tab |
gta6-companion_attr | session storage: the site or campaign link that brought you here, for the same visit only |
Email reminders
If you sign up for launch reminders, we store your email address with Klaviyo. You have to tick the consent box yourself and then click the link in a confirmation email before we send anything. Every email has an unsubscribe link and says who sent it. We use the list only for GTA 6 release news from this site and never sell or share it.
Services that process data for us
| Service | What it does with your data |
|---|---|
| Vercel | Hosts the site. Its servers see your IP address and request details when you load a page, and keep short-lived logs. |
| PostHog | Stores our visit statistics (see Analytics). We send events from our own server with the IP address removed. |
| Upstash | Database for the driving game leaderboard: a random player ID, the nickname you choose and your scores. |
| Klaviyo | Sends the launch-reminder emails, only if you subscribe: your email address and when you confirmed. |
These providers may process data in the United States.
