GTA 6 Unlock Times: What Rockstar Has Confirmed So Far

For a live countdown in your own time zone, use our GTA 6 release time page. This post is the paper trail behind it: who has said what, which parts are announcements and which are store data, and what is still unknown six weeks out.

The ledger: confirmed, listed, reported, unknown

“Confirmed” gets used loosely for GTA 6. We keep four levels apart. A Rockstar or Take-Two announcement is confirmed. A time that a store shows but nobody announced is a store listing. A news outlet citing Rockstar is reported. Everything else is not announced.

What Rockstar and Take-Two have said

Rockstar’s June pre-order post set two dates: launch on November 19, 2026, and pre-load from November 12 for digital pre-orders. Take-Two’s press release the same week added that boxed copies contain a store code rather than a disc and reach shops on November 12, so box buyers can pre-load as well. Neither gave a time of day. Take-Two repeated the November 19 date with its May and August results, also without an hour. So every specific time you see, including ours, comes from the stores.

What the stores list, side by side

Each country’s PlayStation Store page shows a release time for GTA 6. We copied every one by hand on October 7. This week we also checked Microsoft’s public product catalog for the Xbox store, which carries a release date and time for each market. The Xbox store page itself only shows “11/19/2026”, but the data behind it holds the same 05:00 UTC as the catalog. In all 15 regions where Xbox sells the game, the two match to the minute. Store listing

Three things stand out:

• The US and Canada share one moment, 05:00 UTC, which is midnight in New York and 9 PM on Wednesday, November 18 in Los Angeles. West Coast players start the evening before.
• Mexico waits for its own midnight, 06:00 UTC, an hour after New York, on both stores.
• The Philippines PlayStation Store uses the US window, so it unlocks at 1 PM on Thursday in Manila rather than midnight. Microsoft’s catalog has no edition on sale there.

What is still not announced

• An hour from Rockstar. Until Rockstar posts one, the store listings are the best evidence, and they can be changed without notice.
• The file size. Rockstar has not announced it. Our pre-load guide has pre-load times for likely sizes.
• The exact hour pre-load opens. Screen Rant reported midnight local time on November 12, citing Rockstar, but we have not found that in Rockstar’s own posts. Reported

How we will know if it changes

We recheck the PlayStation and Xbox listings before launch, and again when pre-load opens. If Rockstar posts an official time, or a store moves its listing, the release time page, the countdown and this post change the same day, and the “last checked” date below moves with them.
