GTA 6 Price by Country: Where It's Cheapest

Our price by country page lists what each store shows, converted to dollars. This post asks a different question: once you strip out the tax that most countries build into the price, which store is actually charging the least for the game?

Shelf price vs price before tax

In the US, Canada and Mexico the store price is before tax, and tax is added when you pay. Nearly everywhere else the price already includes VAT or GST. To put every store on the US footing, we divided each tax-included price by its country’s standard VAT rate, taken from PwC Worldwide Tax Summaries. Our calculation

What changes when tax comes out

• The US moves up the table. On shelf prices it is the 11th most expensive of 17. Before tax, 13 of the other 15 stores charge less than its $79.99.
• The UK and Germany are mostly tax. United Kingdom’s £69.99 is $92.60 on the shelf, but $77.17 once its 20% VAT comes out, less than the US. Germany’s €79.99 carries 19% VAT and works out at $75.33, less than the US.
• The cheapest stores are cheap before tax too. Japan has the lowest shelf price ($61.91), but India is lowest before tax: ₹5,999 is $61.93 with tax and $52.48 without, about 34% under the US. In these stores the local price itself is lower, not just the tax.

What US, Canadian and Mexican buyers actually pay

The figures above are the fairest comparison, but not what lands on your card. In the US, $79.99 is before state and local sales tax, which depends on where you live and whether your state taxes digital games; at a 7% rate it would be $85.59. In Canada, PwC lists combined federal and provincial sales tax of 5% to 15%, so CA$109.99 becomes CA$115.49 to CA$126.49, about $81.03 to $88.74 today. In Mexico the PlayStation Store adds 16% IVA at checkout (Xataka México), so MX$1,292.24 becomes MX$1,499, about $81.77, the same price Xbox shows with tax included.

Why Brazil is left out

Brazil does not have one VAT rate to take out. PwC lists several layered taxes (IPI, PIS/COFINS, ICMS and ISS) whose rates vary by product and state, so any single “before tax” figure would be a guess. Its shelf price, R$449.90, is $89.76 today, and it stays in the main price table.

Can you buy from the cheapest store?

Not with your normal account. PlayStation says an account’s country or region cannot be changed once it is created, and each store sells to accounts from its own region. The useful thing these numbers tell you is whether your own store is fair, not where to shop. Details and PlayStation’s help page are in the price by country guide.

How we worked this out

• Store prices are the digital PS5 Standard Edition, copied by hand from each PlayStation Store page on 2026-10-07.
• Tax rates are each country’s standard VAT or GST from PwC Worldwide Tax Summaries, checked 2026-10-09. India’s figure is its general 18% GST rate. Digital games can carry other levies we have not counted, so treat the before-tax column as a close estimate, not a receipt.
• Euro prices come from the German store and German VAT. Other euro countries use their own VAT rate, so their before-tax price differs.
• Exchange rates update daily, and this page updates with them. Pre-order discounts or price changes would move the table; we recheck before launch.
